WITH THE WINTER months well and truly behind us, it’s hard not to look forward to sunny summer evenings spent outdoors.
This week we’re looking at four properties around the country with gardens and patios that are made for summer weather – from a six-bed in Co Cork to a family home in Blackrock, Co Dublin. Each home on this list features an outdoor BBQ area too, so get ready for some summer dining.
Located on a manicured site of one acre, Oak Lodge is an impressive property of 5,005 sq ft. The six-bed house is approached via a sweeping driveway. Also outside the main house are picture-perfect lawns, a BBQ area, a garage which has been converted into a home office, and a workshop.
The accommodation boasts multiple reception rooms, including a sun room and a living room with a bar, while each bedroom features an en suite bathroom.
A three-bed property, 55a Castlebyrne Park is an ideal family home. The house features a large front garden with a walkway and paved patio area, while the rear garden is south-west facing and includes ample built-in seating for evenings spent outdoors.
Measuring 1,270 sq ft, 55a has an attic conversion, which makes for an ideal den or home office. There are two reception rooms on the ground floor, including the open-plan kitchen, diner and living room.
Located on an idyllic landscaped site in Screggan, Co Offaly, River Lodge is the kind of place you’d want to be on a hot summer’s day. The five-bed property is bordered by the Clodiagh River to the rear and boasts a south-facing raised riverside deck. There’s also a large stone patio area with plenty of space to dine al fresco, or you could head across to the block built summer house, where there’s a built-in BBQ and seating area.
Stepping inside, the 3,498 sq ft property has a bright and airy feel. There are several large living areas throughout the house, including a lounge on the first floor. Sliding glass doors separate the dining room from the conservatory, which enjoys views of the river and the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
Sitting on one acre of mature gardens, this three-bed bungalow comes to the market in turn-key condition. The grounds are mainly laid out in lawn, while there’s a paved BBQ area to the rear, as well as a purpose-built detached office/recreation space. Electric gates gates and mature trees add a sense of privacy.
Inside, the accommodation is filled with natural light throughout its 1,216 sq ft. The layout is well suited to those with young children, with double doors connecting the living room and kitchen/diner.
